So I decided last night to look at my cam card again and found something interesting. It says the valve clearance should be .015 (intake) and .017 (exhaust). This surprised the hell outta me because the specs state .015 and .020. My question is does that sound like the right settings to follow? |

I just completed this onerous task for the first and second times. I had to redo my first attempt. My .02 I pull 6 of the 8 valve cover bolts and leave 2 of the center easy ones. Next warm the motor, then pull the cover. If a valve is too loose, you will hear it clack. If you go too tight, you will hear the motor complain. So I guess you want to be somewhere in middle. Maybe next time I could try backing out until the valve clacks and then going tighter just far enough to be quiet? Feel free to shoot this idea full of holes. |
