I remember being at the salvage yard, 1982-ish, and seeing the crane operator picking up engines/transmissions from the scrap pile.

Complete 460 Ford with all the accessories and C6 auto....didn't weigh a ton but probably half a ton....the guy on the ground hooked the lift chain to a heater hose bracket attached to the alternator and connected the other end to the crane. The bracket was attached the the alternator by a single 1/4" -20 bolt. The crane operator yanked the whole mess up 10 feet in the air, fast, and swung it 180 degrees and dropped it in a different heap. The bolt held.

That's why human strength never impresses me. No matter how strong a guy is, I think to myself, "A single 1/4" bolt is stronger" lol

They built 50,000 of them for chryssakes, it's not a date coded '71 Hemi Cuda block!!!

They made 50,000 but most of them were melted down in the scrap drives they had during the war.

They made 50,000 of them, but many of them didn't survive to the end of the 1960s, and most of those that did didn't survive to the end of the '70s, and most of those that did didn't survive to the end of the '80s, and most of those that did didn't survive to the end of the '90s, and…
