Greg if I read the map correctly the drag strip IS the regional airport. It looks like one of those old "X" shaped military fields. The airport section is the west end and they turned an old east side taxiway/runway into the drag strip. I'd be like Enterprise: "We'll Pick You Up".
Close. The dragstrip is an old bomber training field from WWII. It is no longer an active airfield.

I remember the old York, Pa dragstrip, being an active airport. Sat staged, and the red lite, on the tree, start flashing. The starter waves us to move back into the burnout box, as a twin engine private plane comes in for a landing, right at us.

Start considering 3rd weekend in August, or maybe 1st weekend in August or 3rd in July. Mike J is looking into dates and such. We will discuss at the Banquet too...

I will go too! Hopefully we could get 3-6 more Eastern folks, 4-8 Midwesterners, and 3-8 Westerners...

Lou

I will put money aside for the run up there. It would be a pleasure to meet some of the other racers from the other side of the continent! Hope its not to close to the vegas trip that could depleate the funds to quickly.
This will be alot of fun with the mix of people we could get there.

I need to call Mike again, and we will discuss at the East banquet in 3 wks.

Aug 15-16 is I think the date we were talking about, but could be Aug 22-23. Need to check back with Mike. I guess NHRA nationals would probably conflict with lots of people, incl Mike, so probably not 15-16.

Part of it will depend on Kearney's schedule also. They do not run every weekend. They should be posting their schedule soon.

This is not looking promising for Linda and I. We are out for MATS as well.

We need to start a list of people that definitely can make this trip for the scheduler/contact person.

It sounds like a hoot, but I am planning to stay local this year. The only race I'm going to try to make outside Oregon will be Samoa.

I just spoke with Mike. He will get with the track management about their Aug 15/16 weekend, which seems best for several people and for the track. Aug 2 would be the other one, but only a 1-day event on that weekend.

I will see who can make it from the East this coming weekend at the banquet in Gatlinburg, TN.

Seems like we have these folks seriously interested so far:

Lou
Ron P
Mike J
Dennis
Wayne
Seymour
Tristan
Stephanie
Greg
Glen?
other midwesterners - Mike, sick6, turbo66valiant???
Ceej?

Cheers,

Lou

I'm still possibly interested but you may want to take my name off the list for right now - I came across an opportunity to study in London for a month this summer (July) and if that goes through, I won't have the cash for Kearney in August. So until I figure all that out, I don't want to count myself in.

I'm in for any weekend other than the 15th/16th. Going to BIR for the Nationals is one hell of a party. I may be swayed though :?

The Killer Bees have two races already scheduled for August...The first part of the month at Woodburn and the once a year Hot Rod Reunion at Medford the last weekend.. August might not be a good month for most of us...

Hm. Traveling long distances is probably easier for people during the Summer. Mike says mid July is out.

Anyone have suggestions for other dates that would work? Kearney typically races 1st and 3rd weekends of every month, and the 3rd wkend is a 2-day where the 1st wkend is only one day.

I will see what the Eastern folks think this coming weekend at the banquet...

Lou
