Post subject:  Payout for race

Dan,

Give me just a little more time. We are still waiting for a reply from the track if we will be allowed to have 2 races that weekend. Obviously if there are two races there will be 2 payouts and the purse will be different.

Right now we have about $500 towards the purse plus $25 for every car from the track. If we have 20 cars and only one race we would have about $1000 purse. Not to shabby for a purse. In all reality we will probably set the payout that weekend at the track once we see the car count. I think Sunday will be the larger of the two races and should have a larger payout.

If the second race is a go for sure then it would be nice to have some more sponsor money for the race. If anyone is interested please let me know.

With a $1000 payout you might be able to get other V8 racers to bring out the slant six cars they have to win that kind of money. With some adds guys that aren't into slants might find they like them after all $$$$$.
"Because how hard could it be to beat some slant guys?" Good luck with that.

Post subject:  2 days of racing it is!

Ok, I just got off the phone with the Elmer at Mason Dixon and he said that 2 days of racing were fine with him. So we will have a race on Saturday Afternoon/Evening which will be a special class added to their regular weekly race schedule and then we will have our Sunday race during the Mopar event. I will get the times and all for the Saturday event and post them later.

So any of you Southern Boys sitting on the fence about a trip North, there is your incentive. Please pass the word to those who are not on the internet.

If you are planning to come to the Saturday event in addition to the Sunday race please let us know and we'll add to our list for Day one. I began the list with 7 people I am pretty sure will be there.

Day One Racing
Saturday

Rick Covalt
Ryan Covalt
Denny Covalt
Lou Madsen 1
Lou Madsen 2
Greg Ondayko
Ron Hamby
Phil Stonebeck
Ron Parker
Brian Mimken

WOW, now we need more money! :D :D

Once we get a feel for how many we will have (I know that is hard) I would like to decide on a payout at least for the winner each day. Elmer said he would announce our races for several weeks for us during their regular race weekends. And if someone knows they can win $250 or more in a slant 6 race they may be more interested in coming out. I'm thinking of mainly the locals here.

Post subject:  Cost to race

Ron,
I was under the impression from the banquet that if the track would allow us to run 2 races that weekend that they would both be points races. If I have that wrong then Lou can correct us. But that's what I thought.

The cost to run is $35 each day. Last year we gave back money to even the 1st round losers. $15 or $20. If we can do the same this year then it will only cost you $30 or $40 to race both days. I want to talk to Lou about this and then we can make a decision and let everyone know. We want to keep it as affordable as possible for people to come out and race with us.

The give back if good, but I think a big payout will be moe of a tease for more people to want to go home with the big money $$$$$
just my 2 cents, for what that is worth.

Post subject:  Payouts for the races

Our goal for these races is the have a great race each day. But the reality is that we want to have our biggest and best day on Sunday during the Big Mopar event. Our payout will be bigger on Sunday as well.
I spoke with Lou and here is what we came up with. We want to have a $1000 payout on Sunday. Those who wanted to pass that around to your V-8 friends to entice them, go at it. I am going to try and get some flyers made up and post them around here locally with "$1000 payout" on it. I will try and get the track to be announcing a $1000 payout for a few weeks before the event to attract some more local racers.

Sunday payout:

Winner - $300
R/U - $150
semis - $60

Saturday
Winner - $150
R/U - $80
semis - $50

Also both days we will give back $15 to all 1st round losers.

In order to make this happen we need you racers to show up. Lou and I are going to make the $1000 payout on Sunday happen. I sold all my extra Hats and 10 more shirts to some "Bee Keepers" out West  so I will have a little more to put towards the purse. Please be flexible with us and we will split up any extra money we have in some reasonable way among the racers. That will be decided on race day. Saturday is less set in stone but the payout above should be doable with a reasonable turnout. If anyone else wants to donate to the purse on either day please drop me a note. Thanks to all who bought shirts/hats and to Lou for his help in sponsoring the race. Should be a great time!

Its looking up for me to make it,If I make it Ill race both days.one question is will they let me run a 11.5 with no cage or will I have to detune 12.0?Its taking all the extra money and time to get it back in good order so theres none left for a cage :(

Author:  Rick Covalt [ Sun Apr 04, 2010 12:52 pm ]
Post subject:  I'll check

I will check with the track for sure. I hate to see you "de-tune" to only run a 12.0 !!! It will be great if you can make it for both days. It would be a good crowd pleaser as well.

Rick

PS. I will add you to the list of folks that are planning to come.
