I think most actors are Odd, but come to think of it... Everyon'e odd in their own way.

So, I made it to the awards banquet in Pigeon Forge this weekend. It was a total blast and I'm psyched to get busy on "Slant Schtuff" again.

Frank was kind enough to bring the roll bar to the banquet, so Lukus has a fresh roll bar to install instead of trying to make the one work that we had to cut out.

(Thank you again Ron Parker and Rick "Dago Red" Mariano for donating the roll bar! We'll get it in there now. :D )

I stopped by and looked at the Duster briefly. I didn't have the time to get dirty working on it, but I rubbed a fender and told it we'd hit a racetrack again soon. :D

Lukus has the sub frame connectors and the driver side floor board in. The engine compartment is ready for the engine and tranny to be dropped in. Just waiting on the welding to be done first.

I would have snapped some pictures, but I can't find my camera. I'll get another one and get some pictures to post soon.

Lukus just told me that he was able to get all of the floorboards in. Making progress... :D

Lou was kind enough to loan me one of his Clifford intakes until I can get one of my own. He sent it to Gary and it should be installed soon. Thanks again Lou! :D
(Gary wanted the bigger runners of the Clifford intake for this engine as opposed to the smaller runners of my Offy intake)

I also called and talked to Lukus' 8 year old son, Isaiah. I asked him if he'd be willing to help out with the GodsRods Duster project by airing up the slicks every time his Dad needs to roll it in and out of the shop. Isaiah is definitely going to be a gearhead and Slant 6 racer!
Kudos to Lukus for raising him right! :D

Lukus emailed and said that he will likely finish up the work on the Duster next week! :D

It always seems to be "Feast of Famine" with me...

I'm definitely not complaining! I much prefer having too much Slant to do rather than being half a world away.

Both Dusters already have glass hoods with nifty scoops on 'em and the GodsRods Duster has decent fenders.

I WILL be pulling the fenders on the Street Duster though. I need to fix/modify the hinge mechanisms. One of them came off the pivot anchor and I think I'll just take out the springs for some weight savings. A salvage yard prop rod will get the job done with less weight.

I'll let you know if the fenders are too scary to put back on.

Not to worry Wayne, I've heard that "All dogs go to heaven..."

Lukus sent me some photos of the progress made! I wish I had taken some more detailed photos of the "before" for comparison. The roll bar was just tack welded directly to the floor (or through it  ) with no base plates at all.

This thing is looking more like a race car! Thanks Lukus and Meril!!

Now to have that serious race engine from Gary installed and do some big smokey burnouts!!! :D

Gary called a couple days ago and he's still having problems getting the jam nut type rocker arm adjusters ordered. If he can ever get them I've asked him to get two sets (one for the race motor and one for the Street Duster)

Lukus said everything is done (roll bar, floors, trunk, aluminum panels). He's going to put a swing arm on the driver's side for me. Hey, I ain't as young as I used to be ya know!

*** Check out the Slanted Network section for an upcoming post about what all Lukus can do for you! The Bruners have been doing this stuff for years (Gary does engines, Meril and Lukus do welding, fabrication and pretty much everything else [except body work])
