Thanks everyone for a great banquet. I counted 35 in attendance, plus kids. We had 28 at TGIF on Sat night!

Great to meet some new folks, like CNC-dude, and nice to see some new cars going together.

Full report to come...

We spent an extra day in Knoxville and just got home a little bit ago.

Had a great time seeing everyone again, and meeting some new faces. I will post some pictures in a bit.

Thanks for the pics Rick. By the time Rick started in with the camera I had already heard too much Mater and viewed too much Mater. I hoped if I closed my eyes and opened them it just would have been a bad dream. The nightmare continued however. :?

Mater bought fried green tomatoes!!! The slacker was only five months late!

He made a huge production of it. Can you say DRAMA QUEEN? The primadonna also bought for the entire dinner party so as to make himself "look" kind and generous! He has most of these wonderful people totally fooled. :(

More on his true colors later.
And Cookie brought two tubs of cookies! M&M and Oatmeal Raisin. :D

I DID make a huge production of it so that I had WITNESSES! :P

Another great weekend of hanging out with some of the best folks in the world!

This time Cookie called his wife and then handed me the phone...

The highlight of the weekend for me was when my good friend Gerald Wright said he wanted to build a Slant 6 car to go racing with us! :D

I've been working on him since 2003 when he helped us with the first GodsRods engine build. This was his second banquet and it was the friendliness and camaraderie of the people that won him over. Thanks "Slanted Family"! :D

All kidding aside it was a great time. Thanks to Rob for all the leg work and the awards. Lou ran the bidness meeting and helped with other organizational chores. Thanks again Rick and Ryan for the great collectors items (t shirts). Thanks to all for the great conversations. It was nice to also meet some new (at least to me) folks.

Special thanks to Kenny Johnson for his constant late night snoring and to Dadtruck for putting up with two "somewhat grownup guys". Can you say arrested development?

Extra special thanks to DT for his white knuckle, ten and two drive through fog, snow, and accidents on the way home through TN mountains!

Now if we can just get Big D to join in on the fun!

Post subject:  Big News not yet mentioned...

A couple things of note that haven't been mentioned here yet:

You've likely seen the post mentioning the Mark Goodman is hosting a Slant 6 race at MoKan April 28th. It's great to see Mark getting back involved in Slant 6 racing!...

I've never met Mark, but word has it that he wouldn't be puttin' on a race if he didn't have something in the works himself...

He sent a couple key people some pictures of his new project that will surely make its big debut at the MoKan race...

A very cool looking Nostalgic Front Engine Dragster!

(And yes, of course it is GREEN! )

The other really big news shared at the banquet that I am surprised no one has mentioned yet is that beginning with the Mason-Dixon race in May...

Seymour is handing the keys to his record setting blue '62 Valiant to...

Ryan Covalt! :D

An emotional Seymour revealed this news at the banquet. He's been considering something like this for a few years now as he wants to simplify things.

Not to worry! He'll still have his white car to come to Slant 6 races in.

I'm Rob "Snagglepuss" Simmons, bringing you the latest in Slant 6 Drag Racing News! :D

Ryan Covalt!

This was truly a gesture that almost blows you away. There will definitely be a learning curve as Ryan steps into an 11's second car. But I suspect that Ryan will try to take back some records from Mark once he gets up to speed! I think that will make Seymour happy!

Rick Covalt

Covalt Racing stable now stands at 7! Plus there is one in Ryan's driveway that has a V-8 that will be a Slant 6. Yeah we're crazy!!

Covalt's are definitely a crazy clan. You guys need more drivers, just like I do...
