I got my Air fuel gauge mounted and working. I ran the car down the road and at WOT I was running 12.8 -13.1 on the gauge. Isn't that close to where I want to be for Max power? ![]() I made a home made bracket out of aluminum and painted it black ![]() Mounted it right over the left defroster hole and ran my wires down through. ![]() Probably will be going to the track the week after Easter. I may go ahead and move my battery to the trunk. Just have to decide where to cut a hole for the kill switch! ![]() |

Wow, that is fortunate. 12.5-13:1 is exactly where you want to be at WOT on gas. Make some runs and enjoy it! Lou |

Yes, the last change I made with my old motor last fall was to richen up the carb by @ 4% at WOT. I was going to change it back to the original settings with my new motor, but thought I should run it first and see where it was at. Glad I did! ![]() Rick |

I just got done removing the water pump and installing a new gasket to try and get rid of that pesky little water leak. I did not really see anything at all wrong, but after letting it warm up for about 20 minutes and then running a blast down the road and back I did not see the leak!! It is possible that it was one of the bolts that go into the water jacket? I'm going to re-check the head gasket torque and the pan bolts and I think I will be ready for a test run for real. My plans are to go to Mason Dixon next Saturday for a test & Tune. I'd be glad to have some company if anyone wants to go. Ryan and I will be there. Rick |

Post subject: | Moved my Coil |
I know many of us with the Blaster coil laying down have not had any trouble, but I figured I might as well eliminate the possibility. I flipped the coil around the right way and mounted it beside my module plate. Since the aluminum plate now had some extra room on it, I figured I would go ahead and mount my spare module on it. That way if I have or suspect I am having an ignition module problem, all I need to do is plug in the 4 wires, and I'm good to go. Rick ![]() ![]() |

Trust me,both of those are very wise decisions. Also going over pan bolts and retorqueing is a must do in my opinion.I also put a wrench on the converter bolts,,,pretty much just go over everything and it will keep you from trying to fix stupid stuff in the pits.Guzzi Mark |

Agreed and done! And I went over the head bolts again and they did need it. When I re-torqued them none of them were at spec. Rick |

Post subject: | Good Day at the track |
I just got home from Mason-Dixon and the first runs on the new engine went well. I unloaded off the truck and checked my timing, and went to the staging lanes. I made 4 runs and I didn't change a single thing all day except the RPM I was shifting at. I had butterflies and was nervous about running it for the first time. Don't ask me why. but I was. Here is what it did. 1st run - 5500 RPM-----------14.06 / 92.8 MPH / 1.92 60' 2nd run- 5700 RPM-----------14.01 / 93.6 MPH / 1.91 60' 3rd run- 5900 RPM -----------13.90 / 93.8 MPH / 1.89 60' 4th run- 6100 RPM -----------13.88 / 93.5 MPH / 1.86 60' Yes I was very tempted to go to 6300 RPM, but I didn't. The engine felt really good and actually feels better at 6000RPM than 4000. It was still pulling strong at 6100. RPM in the traps was about 5500. And I am still running the 3.91 in the rear. Air fuel ratio was between 13.2 and 13.4 at the end of the runs. Should I try to richen it up a bit, or leave it alone? All in all a good day for my car. 13's on my first outing made me pretty happy. Now, If I just had that Jeffrey head!!! ![]() ![]() |

Guess what ? It will get faster when it gets more runs and everything seats. And when the nerves goes away.13.50's won't be far away. |
And when the nerves goes away
At least I did not red light all day. I had two decent lights .080, .068 so that was an improvement. Rick |

Great, Rick!! I would richen up 3-6% and then start playing with timing. Retard it 3-4 deg and make 2 runs, then advance beyond where you were 2-4 deg and make a couple, then go from there. I assume you started with total advance around 28? Personally, I like 26 for a baseline. I agree 13.50s should be no trouble. Maybe 12.99??? Lou |

Yes, total timing is 28 degrees. Rick |
