The Duster came down off the jack stands the other day, rolled onto and off the trailer, then pushed off into the weeds at the junky garage. At least it moved...

The other day while Adam and I were getting the seat mounted in Toadracer (I was just the crash dummy wearing a helmet to get measurements) I took some time to throw a little fuel, water and a battery in the Duster. I drove it up and down the road once just to get things rolling.
I was going to bring it home to work on it in the home garage to get ready for Wilkesboro, but changed my mind.
I don’t want to start on that slippery slope I’m well known for mission creep and letting things get carried away. Angie is very tolerant and supportive, but I don’t want to start bringing my crappy, loud race cars home. I’ll fiddle with it outside at the other garage instead.
Now that we’ve moved it is only 10 minutes away.

So, the Duster still runs and still has the nitrous stuff installed. I doubt I will make time for any test runs before Wilkesboro. That’s just how I roll.

Rob do you still want the bench seat brought to Wilkesboro?

Yes please. :D
You will finally have that out of your way. Thanks for being so patient.

I flushed the cooling system thoroughly today. Debating about mounting the slicks and trying to make a couple passes this weekend... I probably won’t, but it is tempting.

I threw a few things in the Duster yesterday (slicks, jackstands, etc.) and drove it up onto the trailer in preparation for the Wilkesboro race.

No nitrous (or any other) testing yet... It ran okay last year... Should be good, right...?

You will be fine my car is on trailer but not been started in over a month and don’t have any idea how much nitrous is left in my bottle. My main concern is getting over Black Mountain in a safe manner.

I went over to the storage unit and dug through a few boxes to find the carb and nitrous parts I might need this weekend... That’s all...

I dun it!

Hitting the little 25 HP shot after I shifted to 2nd and holding it to the finish of the 1/8 mile dropped the ET from 9.12 to 8.96. My backup run was 9.00. Good enough to set the B/Nitrous open record.

I made 14 passes at Wilkesboro. All within a tenth of each other. A couple 25 HP nitrous shots dropped it into the 8.90s. All the rest were 9.0 to 9.1

Now if I could just get better at the starting line...

ETs:
9.03
9.12
8.96
9.00
9.00
9.06
8.98
9.14
9.02
9.10
9.05
9.28 (Fuel pump switch acted up and the car sputtered at half track)

Lights:
Nah! Nobody wants to see that carnage and I sure don't want to show it!

I don't know much about drag racing but that looks like some very impressive consistency.

This car has been a blast. Very reliable and consistent in spite of me neglecting it.

I built this engine with the GodsRods youth group kids back 2003. The car has sat outside under a tarp the whole time. When I got back from Germany this last time (after three years) I threw a battery, some gas and water in it and started racing... I was #2 in points last year.

It's going to be hard to switch to the Challenger later this year.

(One of the youth group kids that helped build this engine lives in Rome, GA now  )

AJ is second from the left standing.
