Yep, that is classic exhaust leak behavior for the AFR sensor. Hope that new exhaust works for you. Lou |

The new and better sealed exhaust system did not change the AF gauge from showing full lean. I got on the phone with the AEM Tech line. They had me power up the gauge with out starting the motor, the gauge showed 14.7, then after about 20 seconds went full lean. Per AEM that is good and shows that the gauge it self is functioning. They then asked that I do the 'rag test' basically remove the AF sensor from the exhaust section, wet a cloth with gasoline and wrap the sensor with it. I did that. The gauge continued to show full lean, although the sensor did warm to where I could feel the heat. Per the AEM Tech, the sensor warming was further evidence that the gauge itself was functioning but the fact that the gauge continued to show full lean is good evidence that the AF sensor had failed. I installed a new replacement AF sensor and the all is good. The AF sensor is responding in a predictable way that will allow me to begin the tuning and to finish the car. Here is a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfkw2ISgW-g Prior to the video I probably had about 45 minutes of run time on the engine, maybe 5 starts from a cold engine ran to where it ran to normal operating temperature. That includes the initial cam break in and trouble shooting going through the MS3Pro setting trying to figure out why the AF gauge was showing full lean while the sparkplugs were showing a rich condition. More good news is zero leaks, no oil, no water, nothing,, that's nice! |

started and warmed the motor today, used the MS Trigger Wizard to lock in the distributor timing and also re lashed the valves, after that did a cranking compression test: #1 185 #2 180 #3 175 #4 175 #5 180 #6 180 |

Gorgeous sounds, Mr. Truck. That is an excellent place to be with cranking compression for running on premium fuel. My 62 has 185-195 and it is a bit on the edge with 93. Sometimes diesels when I shut it off. Lou |

Between: being retired, hanging with grand kids, playing golf and just generally having fun, still find the time to work on the 68 Barracuda. Today finished the cold air intake. I have gone through several cold and hot starts on the new engine and have started doing the MS3 tuning process. Its all still good. The motor fires good, no leaks. The AF - VE responses to setting changes are predictable. Looking forward to 2021.

Mounted the GlasTek hood. Used a set of low tension springs from a FABO seller. The springs are a perfect fit to the weight of the hood. I am pleased with how well this has gone. I have a hood pin set and will install those after the final panel alignment. https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/th ... 1973177598 I have also fine tuned the revised front end look and functional alignment. I am going after the 69 Charger 500 flush head light appearance. I will retain the split grill of the 2nd generation Barracuda, with one of my goals being that the changes allow the OE grills to be re installed

I see the look that you're going for, with the split grill it looks like maybe a 3/4 scale version of my kid's 72 fury with the hideaway headlite doors open Now if y could engineer in the hideaways that would be something......... Just an idea. Oh yeah the 68/9 chargers (other than the "500"s) had em too |

Quote: What cam
it is Oregon grind #1456. I called Ken at Oregon and gave him the cam duration and lift parameters that I wanted and that I also wanted a cam profile that utilized the large Mopar lifter diameter.and that is what he came back with. Per Ken the 1456 was developed for a Ford circle track motor and it is stated on the profile sheets that cam requires a .875 or larger lifter. advertised duration is I 329 E 338 duration at .050 is I 254 E 258 LSA 108 lift at valve 1.5 rockers I .560 E .567 |
