I am kinda excited about getting the Valiant out this year a couple times. It sat all last year, so it needs to be run. It needs a little carb work and we're finally going to get the 5.13 pig in it. Hoping for some high 7 second 1/8th mile runs. |

Man, it would be great to be together at a track and get the 'ol Slants going down the strip. Hopefully the Clay City thing can happen. I need to work on that more... All the best, Lou |

Got together with my cousin Chad and his son Taylor today. Got the car up and pulled the 4.86 out and put the 5.13 in. I brought the driveshaft home to put some new U-joints in it. We'll button it up next weekend. Got to change oil and throw some jet in the carb and we may actually be ready for opening day. |

Went to 41 today to try and get some runs in before going to Kentucky. Unloaded and drove around the pits for awhile. Noticed the car was not warming up, then instantly went to 200. Checked the radiator and no water was moving. Popped the out line off the pump and a bunch of air blew out. Problem solved, it was airlocked. No more heat issues the rest of the day. Just happened to check my belts before the first pass and noticed they expired last month. Ooops. Went up and got right onto the track. It sounded great coming out of the water. It felt a little weak when I left, but it really started screaming downtrack. I thought I could make the 1/4 with the 5.13s and it did. It wasn't real happy though, the last 50 feet. Timeslip said 13:05@101. DA was at 4200', so I'll take it. Went up later for another pass, and unfortunately a turbo 4th gen Trans Am introduced all it's rods to the track, and oiled from the 330' to the 1/4 stripe, straight down the middle. I loaded up and came home. Other than the heat and humidity it was a great day. I introduced my new friend Amy to the joys of drag racing. She enjoyed it. |

Went back to 41 yesterday for testing. First run it was a total pig. 13:16@100. Went up later for another pass, got 3 cars from the front and they shut down to prep the track because the turbo cars were skating around. 30 minutes later they fire up the turbo turds and the very first car puked a transmission in the right lane. Synthetic ATF from the water box to the starting line. After another 30 minutes they decided to run the left lane only while they were cleaning up. I got pulled out and went 12:96@101. I figured out something I need to work on and hopefully might be in the 12:60s at CC. The best part was the track had a great weekend. They had a nostalgia event Friday and Saturday that packed the place, and yesterday was the biggest crowd I had ever seen for a T&T. Great news for the track. |
