Only 2 trips today, feel like I am making progress.

Well that is great! Only 6 trips. I would think one trip a day for 6 to pick up a single piston and you will be all set! :D :D

Hope your shop is close by.

Is there a wealth of capable machinists in DeSoto / Midlothian?

NO!
Reher and Morrison is close, world class engine builders.
But they don't work on junk like mine!
It's 22 miles one way to the shop I am using.

Wells Racing engines is where I am going, but they don't know a slant from dirt.
But good folks, and willing to try.
I think most shops that just do mainstream racing engines (stovebolts), enjoy something different.
David hooked me up with valve spring stuff and Dennis is cutting the valve pockets.
I feel good about the progress, today anyway.

My goal is to have the engine together less push rods by the end of February.
Then the engine can go back in.

But I am definitely rethinking Colt V3.

The more I look around and talk with these good folks, I realize how caveman vintage my junk is.

Yay! Are you going to try a known-good 4bbl to run it first? If it were me, that might be my first play given the simplicity (if you have such a carb+intake).

And lose my Weber Sponsorship?

The loss of the Weber sponsorship would be the best thing for “The Colt”.
You could leave the nightmares on and watch pops tail lights get smaller towards the finish line.
