Charlie, best of luck to you and Peg. This getting old stuff isn't for kids.

Another vote for a get together Friday night and dinner.

Most of us are coming a long way for this. Is there any guarantee the place will still be in business next month? Not trying to be a negative Nancy, but my spider senses are tingling. The offer of $1500 for a "track rental" so he can have an open T&T is just odd.

Hey everyone!
I'm planning on making it as well and would love to run two days if not three. Has the former Jeffers Raceway been talked about? Skelton Raceway now. They offer camping at the track as well. I understand it may be farther for some.

Hopefully it all works out. But if the weather plays a factor and we only have one day we are kind of in bad shape. A second day at least gives a better chance. I love you all, and I want to race, but I ain't drive 1000 miles to just eat pizza! :D :D

At Clay city: I think we would be fine for 10-15 of us to pitch in $100-$150 each for them to have an open test n tune night.

That way there are 2 days and only have to unload at one place.
I would be in for that much in gas alone if we travelled to some other track nearby anyway.

I would not be able to travel out to Sikeston/ Jeffers Missouri an alternative.

I'm wondering what we're getting into as far as track prep and such? I'd be pissed if we pay big money for a rental only to have one of the other cars oil the lane.

I'd offer $2000 for a private rental. I definitely wouldn't give any money up front.

I just looked at Knoxville's schedule. They've got a big bucks race going on too, as does Sikeston.

What happens if you pay for a private rental and it gets rained out? I assume the $1500 is gone? Just wondering.

Sorry guys, I talked to Steve, and Steven, If I can't make it, they are out, also. So you all decide what you want to do, based on losing three cars from Florida. If it turns out we can make it, we will go along with what you decide. Im still trying to work things out, but not looking good. I will have to make a decision eary next week.

Praying things improve for you and Peg Charlie. Take care of family first! But still hoping you 3 can make it!

That is a good point.

Maybe we pay on arrival?

Not sure; I doubt there is some contract stating that we can get our $ back due to a weather issue.

I spoke to Aaron for quite awhile. Too many variables to put in a post.

BLUF: I trust that he will do the right thing by us if the weather turns South. It’s all about staying in communication leading up to the event. They have a couple different paid for weather service apps they keep a close eye on all the time.

Here’s what I’ll do: I recommend we go with the $1,500 option that lets him open up the track for test & tune.

If things go South and you all decide as a group the track didn’t treat you fairly on refunding what you thought you should get back, I’ll make up the difference (up to your full refund if it’s that egregious).

{Egregious means really yucky, Cookie… :wink: }

I’m in for $200 of the $1,500 track rental if y’all decide to go that route.

Let’s make the call one way or the other by this coming Thursday, please. The sooner we can decide gives the track the opportunity to advertise the test & tune if we do this.

I will be out of the country 30 August to 15 September.

Thanks for the great discussion/ideas, everyone.

I would also be in favor of Dennis' idea: checking to see if they will let us do the private track rental (no outsiders) for $2000. I'm sure we can cover that and I am in for half of that. I think we could do the $1500 too (with open tnt) and it seems unlikely there will be a big turnout of non-Slanters since there are so many other events going on not far away.

Slant on,
Lou

Charlie,

I am pulling for Peg's recovery and wellbeing, and for you in this tough time.

Warmest wishes,

I'm in for $100 for the purse and at least $100 for the track rental.
