Post subject:  Hop Up Question,

I have a friend who has an offy 4 bbl intake & a new 2 bbl carb with the appropriate adapter for the 4 bbl, would this work for a little more pep, or should I get the intake & find a small 4 bbl. I'm not a racer would like a little more Zoom with out loosing too much mpg!!!!!! This would be a long term deal as I have yet to fine tooth my 65 slant car to see where I'm at(compression, tming, brakes ,etc...) Thanks

What kind of 2bbl carb. does he have? If it is something like a 500 cfm Holley 2300, you would be beter-off finding a small 4bbl.

In that case i think i am going to have to buy a adapter plate for my clifford! I was planning on finding a cheap 2300.

You can get a 350 CFM Holley 2300 to work pretty good on a SL6 but not the 500. The simple fact is that you have a lot of venturi area to work with the bigger 2bbl carbs and that can give you low speed fuel curve problems.

Small 4bbl carbs will have less venturi size on the primary side to help low speed operation and then open-up the secondaries when you need the extra flow at higher RPMs.

The best Holley 2300 type carb I ever used was a 2305 with is a 350 CFM staged 2bbl, it ran off of one of the barrels until you got into it.

Hey Doc!

I've been debating Holley 2305 (I'd have to find one, first) vs. DGV 32/36 mm Weber on a super 6 intake.

I like the thought of a staged 2 bbl. on a Slant. and I've messed with the Weber DGV on a Hot-Rod Volvo B20 motor I had.

Any ideas on which one I'd likely be happier with?

Not to hijack the thread, but I've been debating between going the Super Six route and the DGV myself for quite some time, and would be interested in objective opinions on the driveability of the various 2bbl options from those who have tried each...
