Post subject:  Crazy 6 Pack Idea

Hi All.

Got to thinking about a Six Pack for a Slant 6 using something other that that hombrew lookin' set of pipes from eBay a few weeks back, DCOE Webers, etc.

Started thinking about the SU Sidedraft Intake OzHemi hunted down for me.

And the Redline Weber Z Car Kits
http://redlineweber.com/images/kits/K8688.jpg
I just emailed them to see if the'll sell me a 3 pack of those intake plenums to bolt those downdraft 32/36mm DGVs to my Sidedraft intake pictured at top.

Imagine it, a true 6 barrel setup where there is a Primary/Secondary...I figured a Single DGV wouldn't supply enough juice to a heavily modified six, and since I already have 3 Slant 6 Intakes, no sense in buying the standard dual DGV setup from ProLine fuel either.

As an added bonus, a Primered '66 Dart Wagon would look SWEET with 3 K&N Filtered Velocity Stacks straight through the hood.

Yes, I played with Lego's too much as a kid, and have a job too boring for my own imagination to cope with. What do you guys think of my idea?

That will be a lot of airflow for a Slant...

In general I have found that "simple is better" over the long run.
Your proposed set-up will look hot but my bet is that it will be a bit fussy to set-up, tune and maintain.

I would love to do some form of staged multiple carb system for the slant, I looked at using three 1 bbls and 3, two bbls carbs. with progressive linkage. After figuring-out all the work needed, reality hits and I go back to thinking EFI Turbo would give way more performance with a little more work.

Hey Doug and PD, this is Mike from Vegas, I too think that the turbo/efi is the way to go. I have thought alot about this and once I have my shop built, I will fab an intake and SS header for a turbo. I have alot of homework to do on both systems, but I have a spare slant to build up and put in the Demon. The system shouldn't be hard to do just time consuming, but I plan to make some patterns so I can maybe offer this to others, but that would be a long time away.

I have a friend that will teach me to TIG and once I build my shop I will be able to machine some stuff for the intake and header. This looks to be a winter project and hopefully I'll have it done for Vegas 2005.

Slab will be poured today so I'm on my way.

What are your ideas on the Turbo/efi Doug?

Hi Mike,
Good to hear from you, it sounds like you are busy!

As for Turbo EFI on a SL6, we are lucky that a few board members have already gone down that road and have posted some info.

Since Bob wrote this article, he has added a Turbo to his EFI system.

A few others are using the Megasquirt "controller" to help with system adjustability.
You may want to run a search on the messages to review what they have done.
Good luck with the shop. Work fast, March and the 2005 Las Vegas race will be here sooner then you think!

Well, the thing that got me was the cost of the $400 ea. Webers x 3.

But now that I see freshly rebuilt Holley 5200s for $60 on the Stovebolt site...

I have 3 choices for the SU adapters. Triumph TR6, Z-Car and Jag XJ-6.

If it doesn't work out for me. Not NEARLY as much of a loss, and I can stick TWM's SU throttle bodies right off the side of the manifold for efi someday. :D

Heres an alternative to the norm. Its a popular setup in Oz and the carbs are available on imports here in the States. They are SU carbs.

Heres an EFI setup that would probably be a more user friendly way to go..

I'm in the process of sorting out my 6 Pak set up for my /6. Since I already have 3 Carter/Weber 2bbl progressive carbs I will probably use them first. I will try to get a pic of the setup on the motor in a few days.

SlantRat.

That SU Intake/Carbs are exactly what I have for the Dart Wagon, Except for the RHD Linkage.

All I need are the 2 Bbl Adapters, the carbs and a linkage/cable operated throttle

I ran a pair of 32/36 DGV's on my 66 Triumph TR4A and it worked real well. Not overcarbed at all. I would think that three of them on an SU manifold would work well, as long as you had the space.

Hey I was wondering if fuel injection from a 1986 Camaro might work on a slant six? The camaro engine is a v6.
