Vdart....I see no reason why you couldn't use the basic engine. Obviously, the mounts and most likely the accessory brackets will be different, but as far as I know, all the engines were externally identical, whether standard production or industrial.

You may need to do a cam change in order to broaden the power band, and the exhaust/intake manifolds might be different, but I really don't know that for sure.

Those did have a rotator on the top of the valve stem, between the stem and rocker arm tip, so keep an eye out for that when you do anything with the valve train.

Could you do me a little favor? I'm slowly building a database of everything that was built using the slant as a power source, so if you would, please supply me with the year, make, and model of this ag machine.

Thanks.....Roger

Industrial Slant should also have a double roller timing chain in it. Carb and distributor may be different for a governor system. It also should have a Nitrided (surface hardened) crank.

One thing to watch for (just like the automotive Slants) would be the diameter of the register on the back of the crank. Pre-'68 motors are different than '68 and up.

Some industrial slants also had low compression pistons. They are still flat tops, but have a lower compression distance.
