Well, the little fishie (66 Baracuda Formula "S") swam away to a new home. The new owner will be more able than I to care for it and fix it up perfect. The Cuda did leave a hole in my garage though, but the hole was soon remedied. The departure of the Cuda made room for the arrival of........ THE BLUE BIRD OF SLANTINESS!!! (Pics to follow soon once I get it cleaned up) Thats right, I manager to score a 1972 Plymouth Roadrunner, complete except for the original 340 andgine and automatic transmission. Only minor surface rust and minor parking lot dings. Wearing its original coat of Petty Blue with the black vynil top, the B5 blue interior is toast but will be re-done in black. Best part of all was the price--- are you sitting down?--- $650. The Mopar gods have relly smiled on me this time. Now I just have to find someone who can make me some hood inserts that say 225 instead of 340.... I'll post some pics as soon as I can get it cleaned up a bit. Reed M'beep-M'beep! |

cool! You got just what you were looking for! In an odd twist of fate, my brother's neighbor just got a '72 Satellite and asked if I would help him make some improvements, and had some very good questions about hop ups...time to look at options for 318's and 904's now... Congrats Reed!!! -D.Idiot p.s. I was at a swap meet today and an original numbers matching 1971 Road Runner 340 was for sale at $14,900.....FYI. ![]() |

Thanks DI! I learned about this car by e-mail. Apparently the guy who owned it before me had a friend who lived in Idaho who must have seen one of the want ads I posted way back in April. Out of the blue I get this e-mail from the guy here in Tacoma saying "I've got a 72 Roadrunner for sale, $900 offer" I went out and took a look an could barely believe my luck. I had to clear out the garage quick to make room because the guy had had several other callers about the car and I was worried it would sell quick. This moring I took a closer look at it and cleared out the trunk of all the interior parts. The interior neds to be completely redone since it is badly sun-baked. The car ws originally a bench seat car but the seller threw in a set of correct bucket seats and the reinforcement bracket which goes under the floor. Brief rundown on the car- dual exhaust, rallye dash (no tach, but 150 MPH speedo), rallye mirrors (driver's side is remote ![]() I will miss the Cuda but I can't believe what a relief it is not having to worry about fiing the body damage anymore. This roadrunner is a much more manageable project for. All it needs is the brakes freshened up and the interior reassembled/cleaned/repaired, and then I can rebuild the 225/999 combo and drop it in. I asked around on some GTX/Roadrunner forums and supposedly if I use the correct motor mounts I can drop a 225 right onto the 340 k-frame. I truly hope to be able to at least drive the car by next Summer. It won't be finished, but it will be mobile. Interior stuff is priey so that will have to come in stages. DI- I have an Edelbrock Performer intake and a set of headers (from a van) for a Mopar smallblock. I might let them go if your friend is interested. I don't know if the headers will fit, but the engine bay looks pretty wide open on these cars. |

It keeps getting better. In the trunk I found black door panel for three out of the four door panels. Cool. I am going to try that new Krylon Fusion paint on the other hard plastic parts of the interior. |

Nope. In its first incarnation the slant will be rather rather mild. Stock 72 up cam with stock head and maybe a Super six. Once i get the car driveable I will get a second engine on the stand in the garage and begin planning a serious buildup. I'm sure mopar purists would give me crap about a six cylinder roadrunner, but hey its my car. |
