Post subject:  Car Crash - Could engine be damaged?

in an earlier post i told you guys that i had a little run in with a lady at a 7/11.. on a seperate note------

well i had finals for school this week and went 48hrs without sleep.. i was coming home from work today and was dosing off.. i said to myself, "man, i need to pull over or i can get in a accident" = right when i said that.. i was awaken by my car (going about 45mph) crashing into the back of a 94 dodge caravan who was at a stop light.. well.. my arm was sticking out of the window and i broke my mirror with my elbow and my windshield cracked (no idea how?).. hit my head on my chain link steering wheel (not too hard)

i have pictures of my car.. will post soon.... god i love my valiant and feel so stupid for falling asleep like that..

anyway.. my driver side fender crumpled in.. and my grille, and bumper are shot..

my question is this..

my radiator lost all of it's fluid because it looks as though the radiator moved back into the fan.. it made several holes in it... but now it's back in its normal position.. did it only move because of the impact????

can any engine damage occur from this?? the car starts, but i had it towed home because i didn't want to drive it without water.. when i drove it off of the tow truck, alot of smoke came out of the tail pipe and it ran rough... what do you guys think????????

Smoke out the tailpipe usually means your burning water or oil. But from the sound of your description the engine didn't get directly hit, not enough to crack something.

Check the front of the engine, if the radiator moved that far in it may of hit the timing chain/cover. Also make sure the gas lines to/from the fuel pump and carb didn't get messed up. Also the tranny cooler lines if its an auto...
