Post subject:  Noisy PCV Valve

my pcv valve has been making alot of racket since i did my super six swap. ive changed it and it still is very noisy. has anyone else had this problem after a super six swap. does the 2 bbl car have more vacuum than the one barrel and might cause my noisy pcv valve?

What kind of PCV do you use? Frams are kinda noisy, at least they are on my engine (stock 1bbl engine). I use an AC (yes, GM) PCV. Bigger and made of metal, except for where the line from the carb plugs in. I'll try to read the part number on it if you like.

Don't know what kind of noise yours is making. The PCV on my Ford truck was whistling or more like a high pitched squeal - sounded like a bearing going out. Replacing the PCV didn't help. It turned out to be the hose!

it is kind of a high pitched squealing noise. i thought my water pump was going out or it was the belt making noise. then i tracked it down to the pcv. what was wrong with your hose that was causing this? im not sure what brand it is that i bought, it was from car quest.

I had a couple of Fram PCV valves that would whistle on my 318 truck.
My Slant 6 car is still running the factory original. Might have to change is one of these days.

I did buy some low cost NOS Mopar pcv vales on Ebay a while back. Watch out and stay away from the overpriced pcv valves that are often on there.

I think you can still get an OEM pcv valve from your local Chrysler dealer.
Why didn't I think of that before ?

I couldn't see anything wrong with the hose on the outside. I suspect the inner lining separated and collapsed enough to make a whistle out of it. I tried three different PCV's and they didn't change a thing. A new hose fixed it.

I had a problem with the PVC hose collapsing on my slant. I took a piece of steel line bent it the way it needed to be and put a short piece of rubber line on each end and that fixed it.

Post subject:  pcv valve rattle

I have the same rattle problem with my pcv valve at idel. It seems that my car does not have enough engine vac to pull it fully open or somting. this happened with the one barrle carb and now with the two barrel set up. my engine pulls a megure 16 vac, but seems to run fine ......?

Gee...I've got the same story with my '64 Valiant...presently, I've got the white plastic Fram PCV...whistles like a son-of-a-gun at closed throttle, which is REALLY irritating :? now that I've adjusted the valves and gotten them quiet...you can't hear the car idle except for that darn PCV valve !

Will have to try an AC unit...
