Hi,

I'm thinking of converting my 67 dart to electronic ignition.

But do I need to replace the alternator when I do the conversion or can I use my old one??

There is no 'direct' reason that you must replace your alternator in my experience. (with early '70s bodies) As long as it puts out 12volts and charges the battery it should be compatable.

The electronic system will use a little more current, so a relay to avoid overworking the dash wiring has been suggested for the older cars.

I haven't done any work on the pre '70s bodies, so you will want to take my comments with that in mind. Good Luck.

Almost unrelated, some autoparts stores are charging a $3 core charge (for distributors), for 3 bucks, it's sometimes worth keeping the old item around.
