I finally got enough money to start this slant project and I find out that my core has already been bore to .060 over. I know some people out there have .080 slants, I just need to know where to get the pistons and rings. Any help would be appreciated. Please don't tell me that they are custom pieces. I just shelled out 1100 bucks for a blueprinted clifford head and everything else seems to cost twice as much as I thought, this piston thing is just the icing on the cake.

Clifford does heads now? So what does $1100 get you ?

Try calling up these folks for pistons: http://www.pawengineparts.com/ or www.rockauto.com

You can't get 0.080" over pistons off the shelf. J&E and Venolia will make you anything you want in a forged piston for about $100-110 a hole.

$1100 is about the right range for a seriously done up head, but I'm not sure what Clifford has for expertise on Slant heads. $1100 is also about what you'd spend on a set of good V8 heads, FWIW.

BUT, If you go to a long-rod buildup (198 rods), then you can get Mopar 2.2 pistons that are about 0.080" over for a Slant. Silvolite/KB carry these. Chevy 2.8L V6 pistons at 3.504" bore will also work.

Why not just get another block to bore and go with stock type pistons (30 or 60 over)?

Lou

You CAN get .080 over off-the-shelf Lou...I have them. ;) I just need to find my machine shop paperwork! (they ordered them). I believe they are from Federal Mogul, but need to check....

I have been to rock auto and saw that they had .080 pistons, but they have no rings. Anybody have any ideas?

Oh yeah. The clifford blueprinted head is supposed to be great. It is made with all the components that they sell(spiral cut valves, HD springs, ect.) plus they are supposed to have some pretty extensive porting and bowl blending. I ordered last Friday and I should have it by Monday.

My mistake on the pistons - good luck with the buildup.
