Hi everyone,
Well I followed the advice of everyone in this forum, and my first day at the races went pretty good. My fastest time in my totally restored 67 Barracuda was 14. 64 at 92 mph in the quarter mile. I just have one question, what else can I do. I am at 11:1 compression and a bunch of other bells and whistles including a offenhauser intake manifold and a Holley 570 4bbl carb, and my ignition includes a MSD 6A ignition and a Blaster HVC 2 Coil. I am also running an 8 3/4 rearend with .391 gears. I have 90:10 shock up front, but the stock leaf springs in the rear. I just feel like the motor wants to go more than what it is. I would really appreciate any advice that I could get from any of you.

I am actually building almost that exact same set up.

The only thing I can think of is the clifford manifold flows better than the offy. And of course super stock springs in the rear. You didn't mention tires or if you lost any grip but everybody seems to love those Mickey Street E.T.'s.

nice numbers there. you may find the clifford intake (using fattter runners) flows better at the high rpms, i have never used an Offy but i've looked at them and the runners are considerably smaller. I'm speaking of the standard 4bbl clifford, not the clifford hyperpak. you may want to look into the hyperpak as well.

also, with that compression, what kind of head work do you have done?

Mid 14's for the first time out is darn good, I bet there are a few more tenths that can be found with "tuning". (distributor curve and jetting)

To really make the ET better you need a harder "lanch", what were your 60 ft. times?
More converter stall speed, steeper rear axle gears and more traction will drop the ETs fast, the car needs to "jump" off the starting line.

That is very impressive for your first time out with a Slant. Tell us more about your combo - cam, trans/converter, headers/exh... What timing advance are you running. 30 deg is the max you should run (total with mechanical advance, no vac).

Slant on!

Lou
