Post subject:	Need help with cast iron torqueflite
I've tried everyone I know without success, so I'm asking you guys in hope you can help. My 1961 Chrysler 300-G has the 3 speed torqueflite, which isn't as strong or durable as an aluminum T.F. such as in 1962 and later cars. Can anyone tell me who makes an adapter plate and brackets necessary to match the later model aluminum T.F. to my crank shaft, which has a smaller pilot hole. I think someone makes an adapter due to the longer space allowed by the later tranny. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Any trans up to '67 will have the right torque converter to bolt up to your small crankshaft hole (all Slants had this small hole up until 1967). The '66 and '67 trannys were the first non-cable-operated ones, and used a standard slip yoke instead of the older ball/trunion driveshaft. '62-65 trannys will also work, and are cable operated and have the 4-bolt flange for the driveshaft. Lou

Thanks, guys. Lou, will I need an adapter plate because of different shaft length at the front end of the transmission? Of course, the '62 was the last year with the emergency brake at the rear of the tranny, except for some RV trannies. How much work is it to go to the cable type emergency brake leading to the rear brakes? Can I scavenge this from an old C body for my '61 300G? Thanks.

No adapter as long as you use the torque conv that goes with the trans and fits the crank hub hole. Don't know about park brake stuff. Lou
