Okay, here is what I got, please keep in mind that I purchased this motor and all I have is the mechanics sheet of what was done. I will start from the rear. I have the stock suspension in the rear, but I installed a 8 3/4 rearend with .391 gears (possy of course). I have a totally rebuilt driveline and a rebuilt 727 manual/automatic (It's a automatic, but I still have to shift). I have also have a 2500 stall. I am running dual exhaust with clifford headers. I have an MSD 6A ignition and an HVC 2 Blaster coil. As far as the motor, I have Jahns 11-1 Aluminum pistons with new pins and new chrome moly rings. All cylinders have been bored to 238", line bored, block milled, head surfaced, rods aligned and blanced. I have new cam bearings, new rod bearings, and new main bearings. My crank has been micropolished. The cam is a Isky VA160 cam (which I cannot find any information about). I have Isky push rods, Isky valve springs and retainers, Isky keepers. Head has been polished and matched ports, with an offy intake manifold. The biggest problem I am having is the launch. I am trying to launch at aboout 2300, but I am still bogging off of the line. I think that the gearing is good because I am going through the traps at about 5300 rpm. I have another question, what do you think my shift points should be. Thank you for all of your feed back.

Your shift points will depend a lot on what are your cam specs, head flow, actual compression. My guess is that you probably want to shift around 54-5800. Until we know cam specs, it's hard to say much.

If you are bogging off the line, I can think of many causes. The most likely, especially if you have a big cam, is that your stall speed is too low. For that motor, I wouldn't run anything less than 3000 stall, and 33-3500 would be better. The carb tuning (accel pump circuit - cams, shooters, pump size), and timing advance curves would be a next good guess. Cam timing could be off (retarded cam), but it sounds like you have faith in your engine builder to get that right.

Post subject:  Thanks for the reply, one more question.

Thanks for the response, that does make alot of sense, I was breaking loose off of the line at 2500 rpm (causing me to red light). How would the Hyper Pack help/or hurt me, would I have to change my gearing. What about puting a 100 shot of NOS on it. I just feel like the motor wants to go faster, but its just not there yet. Is there any kind of manual on the slant six, I can't seem to find one. Again, thanks for the help.
