Is there an aftermarket cam for a 1974 engine available that is better
for economy and smooth low end performanc than the original factory cam?
thanks, JackF

The MP "243" (last 3 digits of the part number) cam is slightly better than the 1971+ solid lifter cam, new ones aren't available and those on dealer shelves can be "suspect"...your other choice would be the Comp Cam 252S....

Thanks. I bought a 74 Valiant 4 door on ebay but haven't picked it
up yet. I am fed up with temperamental computer operated autos
and want to fix this one up as a reliable and economical standby car.
thanks, Jackf

The early Slant cams were pretty short on duration, that would help low speed and MPG. You may want to check with a local cam regrinder to see if they could make one for you.

I have a good condition original 225 cam from a running 68 motor. Interested in purchasing it?

I don't know the part number, but it is the stock cam for a 1968 Dodge 225 with a one barrel carb. I guess it would be 2268708 going from the good doctors chart.
