Hey there.

since I worked my /6, (rebuild, cam, head, headers, dist recurve, other goodies) I feel as if the stall speed has increased a li'l bit, like 1300 rpm. Also this ain't much noticeable at light throttle, but when I really step on it. I checked but ain't slipping (tranny's also been rebuilt) can the increase of HP on an engine somewhat affect converter's stall speed?

Thanx
Juan

Yes, exactly.

1300 rpm seems like a nice bump, how much HP did you add?

considering that my engine was dead before the rebuild (all comp rings shot, scratched bores, bad main timing, cam centerlined wrong, crappy dist curve) and what I did (rebore, flat top pistons .020 overbore, mains, new connecting rods, block top milled ~.015 head ~.035, steel gasket, li'l surface cleaning on ports, custom dual headers and dual ex, new mild streetable cam yet li'l more peppy than the older one...) I think that I might be over 180 hp SAE. I'm about removing the fan and use 2 electric units... that would add some too ;-)

What I notice is that if I go easy on the gas, the converter stalls very close to what it used to be, but when I come up like more than half throttle (or WOT, hehe) the beast revs up and then the conv stalls occurs, a li'l bit delayed, producing a very nice kick in the ass feeling and powerful acceleration. I happen to be "not-that-happy" with some middle ground (between light throttle and WOT) tho I wouldn't say that is crappy, maybe I'm a li'l bit short of gas in the middle circuit... idle is fine, power is fine... maybe I have to somewhat richen up the middle.... Or it could be my new recurve opening all too soon.... leaving me "leaned" when I want to regain speed after some transit event.
