Hello All,

Being relatively new to auto mechanics and the slant 6, I am constantly stumbling over terms and references in all the messages I read through. I noticed alot of people ask the same basic questions (oh...yeah, the FAQ!), but how about an FAQ just for the relationship/mechanics of the engine?

For example, I have no idea if my 225 is sitting in an "A" body, or a "Z" body..the QRL would list the different body types and what origional engines they came with.

The QRL would tell me where to look for identifying markings on the engine, the clutch, the carb, etc, etc...

I realize this is a serious undertaking, but it could be do-able with the right forethought and planning before starting it "officially."

Just to get people thinking, here is an example of how it could look:

Forum Index > QRL ENGINES

Engine ID Number === located at such&such on all engines manufactured from 1964 to 1976....

Engine Color === 1964 to ....

Engine Weights ===

DISCLAIMER: Since Slant 6s are no longer manufactured, every one you see has been worked on, repainted, replaced or otherwise tinkered-with, so these specs are not 100% accurate...

OK, I'm quitting now before I muck this up....Did someone already do this?

I recommend that you purchase a Haynes or Chilton's shop manual that covers your car. These have tables that list out the letter designation of the car body (an A body is a dart, valiant, 64-69 barracuda, demon, or duster, Mopar never made a Z body) and also have references to the identifying marks of the different major mechanical parts.

However, if you look at the tech articles on this site you will find much of that sort of information already compiled. You can also use the "search" function to find specific topics. Be sure to also visit www.slantsix.com

Welcome to the slanted world and good luck with your project!
