I will be painting my 65 Valiant wagon next week. It originally was white with a blue interior, but my wife and many others like the medium blue metallic better, the same color as the interior. We compromised, and are planning to copy the optional two tone paint (white roof, blue lower body). Where is the paint color supposed to divide? What hides the dividing line on the front and center post?

Second question --- am I alone in this world thinking that the factory white with blue interior is a nice color combo? I have asked about 10 friends, and they look at me like I am a freak. the only person who agrees with me is my 81 year old father. I don't mind having an unusual (or pronounced another way, unpopular) color combo, but if I sell, it would hurt my chances of sending it down the road.

I have a 65 Dart wagon that is the white exterior (needs repainting) and blue interior (needs complete redo). Even with it needing quite a bit, I think it's a pretty sharp combo. Plan on keeping the white paint and blue interior, although I'll be swapping the front seat to a set of real nice 65 Signet blue buckets. Don't know what I'll do about the back seat since no one makes any repro covers for it.

Would love to see a picture of it. I was thinking about putting buckets in mine too, especially since it is a four speed.

Talk about unusual, my 63 GT was originally Sandlewood with elephant taupe mauve interior with salt and pepper sandlewood/taupe carpet! Wild!

It took many searches of many suppliers to redo the interior, but I succeeded, in no small part due to the efforts of Mercedes Benz that provided a dead match for the original elephant taupe mauve material with ACC doing a custom run on the carpet.

I personally prefer a blue interior with a white exterior over the all to common black interior. Build your ride as you wish.

The doors are painted the lower body colour. The upper colour comes down the C pillar (between the rear door and rear quarter window) to the belt line. They used a small trim piece there which was used on all wagons I believe.

On the A pillar (between the front door and windshield) the upper colour comes down to the base of the windshield. No trim is used there to separate the two.

On the rear section the paint comes down to the drip rail so the pillars at the rear on either side of the rear tailgate are done in the lower colour. The area around the rear quarter window is also done in the lower colour.

For a two-tone paint job the A body wagon has some easy paint dividing lines.
