Will a 76 Aspen rear swap in to a 70 Dart? Dart already has a blown LPB 8.25 out back. |

yes it will fit but it is almost 3" wider. I had a 76 aspen rear in my 70 Valiant for about 3 weeks. I had the stock wheels and p205/75R15's. each side had about 3/4" clearance between the wheel well and the tires. With the 8.75" rear in the trunk and aired down to 20psi for racing the tires made slight contact with the inner quarter arter a BIG bump in the road. there were slight rub marks on the side wall of the tires. |

An Aspen rear end will not fit into a Dart. It will push the tires into the fenderwells. |

It will to fit I have actually done it! I'm not some pessimist that goes around telling people lies when they haven't actually been there and done that. |

That's the Spirit! Damn the torpedoes. I asked because the rear in my Dart is toasted and I have a line on a complete, running, /6 '76 Aspen for $250 bucks. I figured even for the spare slant and tranny it would be worth it, but I really need a new rear and the price is right. Aside from the width issues, were the spring perches in the right spot? How 'bout the driveshaft length? |

spring perches need to be moved but the drive shaft should fit going from an 8.25 to another 8.25. |

Aside from the fact that you can never have too many slant powered cars (!), I guess I'm still leaning toward having the blown 8.25 re-built (peace of mind). I'm relatively handy with a wrench, but this might be too much time for unknown results at this point... |
