| Post subject: | Still can't figure this carb out - help! |
Is there a picture somewhere, or can someone post a picture of the back side of a 1945 carb that shows the fast idle linkage and the curb idle linkage? I'm either missing something from this carb or I have reassembled it incorrectly. I do know that I am missing the curb idle adjusting screw, but even if I had it, there is nothing there for it to adjust against. I can't figure out if it's on backwards, upside down, or what. Can someone help me out here. Thanks, again. dave |

In the meantime, here is the latest 1945 that I have on the shelf, there are a few views of it that maybe yoiu can blow up in MS paint, or photviewer and see what you are looking for. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... otohosting Also, here's a link to an exploded view of the carb......I only see one screw aside from the F/A mixture screw.......I'm beginning to wonder if it is an idle solenoid you are missing and not a screw.... http://www.carburetorfactory.com/expvw13.html Kevin |

I'm beginning to wonder, myself. That #11 looks suspiciously like some kind of solenoid. dave |

Man, do I feel like an idiot, now. I found the curb idle adjusting screw while looking at the linkage from the other side of the carb, to see if I had reassembled the linkage backwards or something. I saw a threaded "stud" coming through from the other side and, when I followed it over to the passenger side, there it was. It is kind of hidden, but it is there, nonetheless. Thanks everyone for your help with pics and diagrams. I really appreciate it. dave |

Sorry I couldnt help last night Dave, Happy hour turned into dinner and dinner turned into.....well you know....anyway, I looked at my 1945's this morning and yes, the curb idle screw goes through the casting from the passenger side and rests on the backside of the idle linkeage, glad you found it. Thanks again, Kevin. It's kind of interesting, and frustrating, that it doesn't show up on the exploded views that we looked at. Well, now if anyone else has problems with this same thing - we know! Thanks, again. dave |
