Hello Slant Six Gurus

I have my eye on a low-mile 77 Aspen as a daily driver commuter car, but I'm wondering just how much can be done with these cars in smog-inspection controlled L.A. I realize that at the end of the slant six era these cars were pretty down on power. Ideas?

there's not much you can do. unfortunately CA smog laws are pretty tight. about the only thing you could do would be to put a msd ignition on it. but that may be throwing money away on that car, no offense.

any thing you put on that car performance wise must have a carb exemption number on it in order for it to pass the smog inspection.

if the car is in decent shape and runs good, then get it and drive it and only do what is neccessary to keep running good and reliable.

If it were me I would get the car smog tested then get a complete super six. it will bolt directly in place of the stock parts. come next smog test swap back.
I can remove and replace an intake/exhaust combo and get it running in about an hour I have done it so many times.
