Where would someone who lives in S. California most likely to be able to find a slant six engine to start a new project? Would prefer a 170.
Also, does anyone produce new crankshafts for these engines? I am familiar with the parts available from Clifford Performance.

Since the slant was in production for around a quarter century, it should not be hard to find one. You should have a number of "yards" down there like "Pick-A-Part" or "Pull-A-Part." These are huge junkyards where you just pull the part you need. There might also be places that sell engines that have already been pulled. Check your yellow pages.

I'm guessing that you won't find too many 170's at the yards, but it's worth a try.

The slant was used in TONS of Dodge/Plymouth vans and trucks, and was available in pretty much all rear drive Mopar vehicles up until the early 80's.
