Post subject:  Headers with Column Shift?

Have some Clifford 2 piece headers that I want to
put on my 69 Dart 225. It has power brakes and
a column shift. Will they fit with these in place?
I don't mind (and I may anyway) lose the pwr cannister,
but I wanted to keep the column shift if I could for a "sleeper" look.
I know some of you have the Cliffords on your vehicles.

You'll be happier with Dutra Duals.

I know they'll fit power brakes, but not sure about the column shift. I also know they would not clear the power steering box in my Duster.

If you already have them, try them. Cliffords seem to be pretty erratic in what they do fit.

I sold a set of long tube A-body Cliffords that would not fit a '67 Dart.

I have clifford 6x2 shorties on mine right now. they made their own clearance  at the steering box and I had to massage the shift linkage(904 auto) and trans cooler lines. no power brakes though.

I hadn't even thought about the power steering issue.
I decided against Dutra Duals because I want to race the Dart
eventually and I thought the headers wwould give a little more power.
Plus I'm in California so the cold start issue is not as great.

I these don't fit, do any of you have recommendations for a
header that will fit with power steering and column linkage?

My old MP header would clear both.

I have the Clifford duals on my slant, with a column shift, manual brakes and power steering. When I last rebuilt my motor i took a 15/16" socket and dimpled the header tube that goes closest to the power steering. I have zero problems with this setup, runs great and still looks and shines as the day i jethot coated it.

I have the same headers, but unfortunately i have a truck and my slant has the low starter(below the block) so the rear header ends up sitting right on top of the starter with no room to run any sort of exhaust what so ever. Even if the header did clear the starter, i think it would get too hot and just roast my starter. If you want a header i would sell the 6x2 and buy a 6x1 if you dont want Dutra Duals... Iv never touched the 6x1 headers so i dont know if the 6x1 would fit with your power steering...just an idea, but check it out.

thanks Pyper. I am not afraid to get the BFH out to persuade the damn thing to fit! Do you think they would fit w/ the pwr brake booster?
If not, I'm ready to give up this in a heartbeat.

Lookin in my engine bay you should have no problem fitting a brake booster, the tubes go down at an angle, just over the starter, I have a mini starter. I dont particularly care for power booster, I like manual, If i could and had the time and research I would have put a manual steering too.
