74 Slant Six 225 Scamp here. EGR and not cat on this car for reference. I need to pass the smog check here in Arizona and they tell me the stock air cleaner needs to be on there to pass the inspection. So is there a clean way to adapt the Holley 5200 to the stock air cleaner. Does someone make an adapter or can I rig something up? The stock air cleaner is for the original Holley 1920 carb. Also the guy at the inspection station told me that all Weber carbs are illegal in Az. Is this guy feeding me a line of bull? Didn't Webers come stock on certain cars? Fiats and BMW's, not Slants necessarily. Technically the Holley 5200 is not a Weber but it's a clone of the 32/36 DGEV Weber. Thanks |

Find an air cleaner from a vehicle that originally used a 5200 carb. Carefully cut the flange out of this air cleaner. Use this piece to carefully measure your original air cleaner. Cut along your measurements and have somebody weld the two parts together. I doubt that anybody at the inspection station knows the differance from a 5200 and a stock 1v carb. All they do is go by a book on what to look for and where to hook up all the sensors. Also most state have a "poverty" clause that allows you to fail several times and then pay a mechic some money to certify the car. At which point you automatically pass the test. |
