Anyone else remember when Frankie boy got in a tight spot with the IRS? It was right before that mysterious fire that burned down an enormous warehouse he had full of insured but un-inventoried NOS Mopar parts.

I think I'm gonna get slapped, but I've bought parts from Frank and I must say that in a state like mine (Maine) sometimes you have to go further a-field to get these hard to find pieces. He ships quickly and has what you need. I know most of you have all the time in the world to look for those obscure A-body parts in your home towns, but I was happy to do business with Frank.

3 Mill. is a lot of maoney, but you never know what the man has invested in his business. How much money do you have invested in your slant? I bet more than the NADA guide says is worth...

I see your point. I've never dealt with the man that I know of. There may be some serious treasure in them thar hills too.
I would love to have a place like that to just hang out in. In fact, if I were to win a huge lottery or something I would seriously consider a purchase like this. Then I'd have an open house for a few selected friends and we'd have a heck of a time.
All of that stuff may very well be worth $3 million, but you'd need to be able to keep it where it is. Can you imagine trying to move all that stuff?

Yes, I was joking, but that was my point. Most of us don't have all the time in the world to work on our cars, and no, I don't think it is any easier to find 30 or 40 year old car parts in every other state.

Unfortunately in our world we are ruled by the laws of supply and demand. Frank has parts that are no longer made, and yes, there may be hundreds of other resources for these parts, from vendors who do a better job, but since I dont have all the time in the world to work on my car, sometimes I hedge my bet on a certain supplier. And sometimes I'm willing to pay a little more for a part that I could put to use now rather than delaying my project even more by searching for rock bottom prices.

I'm sorry some of you have had bad experiences with Frank. I haven't. I just thought I might add another opinion to the seemingly negative impression that was being built about him and his business.

Let the buyer beware, do your research, and to each his or her own.

I'm glad to know that some others have not had great experiences with Frank as I now have a more well rounded picture of him, but I can only say from personal experience that the transactions I had were just fine...

I have bought a few things from Frank, without a problem. In my opinion, Franks biggest problem is his attitute. It needs a 2x4 adjustment.

Right as rain. Jabbering about laws of supply and demand is fine as far as it goes, but artificially-high prices and misrepresented merchandise are a whole different ball of string.

Enough with your conspiracy theories! If I choose to buy a part at a certain price that you can find for cheaper, then congratulations to you and too bad me, but to suggest that buy buying a part a certain price I'm causing the price of all vintage car parts to go up - you are out of your minds.

The price of car parts has to do with how readily available the parts are (supply), and how many people are looking for them (demand)! This isn't idle "jabbering". This is normal, every-day economics.

I'm not debating that some of you have had bad experiences with Frank!

It is your opinion that he didn't describe his parts accurately, in which case you may feel you have been "overcharged" for it. Your perception of value has lessened because your expectations of quality were different than the "reality" of the quality of the part.

I'm sure Frank thinks his descriptions are adequite. Maybe he doesn't - who knows - maybe he laughs all the way to the bank and thanks the Lord that there are suckers out there like me who have bought his parts.

Maybe the reason he is selling his business is that he has run it into the ground by overcharging for crappy parts that he says are fine and nobody is buying from him in a quantity that allows him to make a profit?

Anyway, I think we are all yelling in the same direction. Let's get back to talking about our cars and leave the economics to the economists....The free market will take care of Frank like it does everything else.

You left out hype and stupidity (I mean this in the general sense, and not as a personal remark directed toward you). I stand by what I say. They're just old cars and parts, they're not made out of gold, and in most cases, they're not as scarce as some would have you think. It's all about making a bunch of quick easy money by convincing a seller his parts are worthless crap and convincing a buyer it's a scarce, valuable commodity. Yes, free markets rule, but use your damn heads! We're not talking food, shelter, or other essentials for life - It's a hobby... an obsession, maybe, but still a hobby.
