When recurving a distributor to change the mechanical advance from 30 to 15, what end of the slots do you fill in? The end that the pins rest in at 0 rpm or the end that the pins move toward at 3000 rpm? I have the same dist as described in this post http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... curve+pics Also, can you use JB Weld instead of brazing? |

The high rpm side. But you may want to check how the rotor lines up with the cap, and see what side you need to fill in, to align them best. I think someone said jb weld works, but I have never used it(on anything) |

The end that the pin moves toward is the part to fill. Comparing several factory components, that is the way that they are different on an origional part. I can't promise that JB weld will work, but considering it is a low impact and low heat situation, I think that you could make it work. I would want to keep an eye on it just in case, while brazed once would be done forever. Make sure you clean up the surfaces before you apply the JB. Also, be sure to adjust your heavy spring to the shorter amount of travel. You might need to resize the slot on the spring, because you only get a little bit of adjustment from the post style spring retainers. |
