| Post subject: | Transmission Seals |
It’s been a while since I’ve been to the list. It looks like my 63 Valiant is going to return to the position of being my primary mode of transportation. I need to replace the seals where the Pushbutton cables and the spedo cable enter the 904 transmission. I called Napa and was told that they only have the 66 and up seal kit available. My questions are: Does anyone know of a vendor that might have these gaskets? If I end up making my own gaskets, what type of material is appropriate for this? Any pointer would be appreciated. John, get in touch with these people. I know they have the complete master set for the PB trans. They might have just the seals you want. I get quite a few things from them. I used to buy "normal" trans parts from them, when I lived in NJ. http://www.fatsco.com/ |

Charlie, Thanks for the tip. They do have them. The cool thing about them is that they manufacture seals so it is possible that this item won't disappear once the currently existing supply has disappeared. A friend of mine pointed me to a local place that has them available for a bit cheaper. So hopefully in about a week all my transmission problems/worries will be over. John |

FYI, I just wanted to let you know that the leak is finally fixed. It was the speedo cable O-ring. I also changed the transmission mount while I was at it. So in theory I should be leak free from the rear end all the way up to my /6. I just need to tackle the oil pan leak there. John |

My mechanic fixed a leak where the shift shaft enters the transmission. He said the speedo cable is also leaking but he can't do anything about it. Why would he say that? and what did you do to fix your's? |
