OK so I screwed up. I THOUGHT I was making things better by ordering a new Holley for my 225. I was trying to avoid getting incomplete kickdown linkage, or getting a bad carter BBD.

So now I find myself going through a headache trying to adapt the throttle linkage. Am I missing an adapter, or do I need to fab some kind kind of concauction to make it work?

I'm no McGuiver, but I could develop something considering the money that I already have involved.

All knowledge and expertise is highly appreciated.

THis is one instance when pictures are really necessary. Barring that, could you tell us more about what model carb you ordered and what kind of car this is going on? What kind of throttle system do you have now?

The carb is a Holley 2300 which fits much better than I thought.

The throttle is one that rolls in a clockwise motion as you see it from the front of the vehicle in action. I would assume that it came stock in the valiants in 64.

The problem is that it needs to push and pull back and forth instead of roll around.

any suggestions?

Okay, the yahoo website isn't working, so i will attempt to answer your questions as best I can.

It sounds like you are trying to do a two barrel conversion on your car but you have the old rod-style linkage. I will assume you have installed a factory Super Six intake manifold but don't have the throttle cable or kickdown linkage. The easiest fix for this is to replace the gas pedal, throttle linkage, and kickdown linkage with that from a later model "hanging pedal" car. I believe 67-up A-bodies, and all f and M bodies gas pedals can be made to work. My first project car was a 64 Valiant Signet that I super sixed I was able to find a complete Super Six setup at the boneyard and got the kickdown linkage from that. For the throttle linkage I used a gas pedal and throttle cable from a Volare one barrel slant six car. This gas pedal mounts to the firewall and the throttle cable passes through a hole you will have to drill. I can't remember exactly why I couldn't use the original hole for the rod style linkage, but I do know I couldn't. This will allow you to use the cable style thorttle lnkage (don't forget the bracket that bolts to the bottom of the exhaust manifold and has the clamp for the bracket on it).

The kickdown linkage is a bit more difficult. At this point I recommend you just purchase a Lokar style kit.[/i]

Okay, yeah. THats what I thought you had going on. GRab the gas pedal and throttle from any 80s era M-body (Diplomat, Fifth Avenue, Gran Fury). Then order a lokar type kickdown linkage or watch ebay or this site for a SUper Six kickdown linkage.

The original chrysler throttle cable for around 1969 up used a funky square hole in the firewall.

Yeah. There is a pin on the back of the plastic grommet that you have to pull before the cable/pedal assembly will come off, and you will have to drill some holes in the firewall to mount the newer gas pedal.

One last question - this time anyway - I would assume that the kickdown linkage also needs to fit the same M-body vehicle that I pull the pedal from?

Well, the kickdown linkage would HAVE to come from a two barrel slant six car or truck, and you would have to fiddle with the linkage between the bracket which bolts to the exhaust manifold and the carb since you aren't using a BBD.
