Post subject:  reverse lites for 63 Dart wagon-can I put them on?

I have a 63 dart wagon 170. it didn't come with reverse lites and I would like to install a pair of original ones. My question is two part:

Originally, when the cars had them, did the quarter plate where they are installed (beneath the tailight) have a round indentation in the metal to accomodate the housing? Obviously, my quarter panels have none because it didn't come with any...so I'm wondering how easily I can install them. Simply drilling a hole may not work, if the metal had a slight flattened area.

Secondly, how would I wire the reverse light switch up to the pushbutton and into the harness, then run the wires back?

Advice? expertise?

Thanks.

Post subject:  way below the tail light !!

The FSM shows them mounted barely above the bumper and below
the body line that runs across the tail gate. Cannot tell if there are
dimples there - but I would guess the body contour would be on the
back of the reverse light housings.

The reverse light switch is about the size of a quarter and is mounted to
the bottom of the push button unit if the car is automatic.

You have 2 wagons? cool, the kit should have a solenoid/switch that is activated when you car is placed in reverse, as for mounting the 62 valiants I've seen had a small dimple(flat spot) on the rear where the lights go. Also did you check the touchy article on rebuilding your heater switch? replace the highligheted touchy 1 with touchy2 & it will show you the rest of the article.

The '63 Dart wagon backup light accessory package would've come with a template for cutting the necessary holes. Perhaps someone who has a '63-'64 Dart wagon with backup lights can make you a template out of the cardboard backer plate from a pad of paper.
