I recently got a rear end at the local picknpull and im trying to find out what it is. Anyways, its from a 79' dodge magnum. It has a 12 bolt cover and is fairly large. I am unsure of the gear ratio but it seems to be a somewhere around 3 and a quarter. There are 2 casting numbers on it. Also it is posi. Ignore the periods, they're just spacers the best i could do. ......................2 [ ]............. /1......\ ................... A 9 1/4? ill look more into it. That may be the case though because the axle tubes are tapered about midway. 10'' drums also |

Look in to it more? Did you or did you not say it has 12 bolts holding on the cover? Look at the Mopar axle spotters guide I provided you with. The only Mopar rear with a 12 bolt cover is a 9 1/4. it also states that they can be found in b-body cars, you said it was out of a Magnum, a B-body car. Tapered about midway? It states 4" axle tubes, swaged down to 3", now what do you think it is? Yes please look into it more. tell us what you see. Mr. Rico |

Rico- Haha ok maybe I chose the wrong words, it's finally ID'd now. The next thing is to get it shortened a bit to fit under the valiant. the 7 1/4 is 51'' from drum to drum, this one is 55. I could install it as is but then i would have to get flat tuner looking rims in the rear  . so so~ thanks for the help.

You could HEMI DART your wheel openings, let them fatties hang way out! . so so~ thanks for the help.Sorry, just joking. The narrowing part should not be to hard, you will just have to buy some shorter axles for it. $$$. I wonder how much room there will be between the cover and the fuel tank? May or may not be an issue, good luck to you. |

It's been a while, but doesn't the 9 1/4" rear have the same C-clip configuration as the 8 1/4" making it not so nice for rounding corners when running from the.....errr.....just checking the fine handling of your mopar while keeping pace with the local law enforcement?  -D.Idiot |

last weekend i put a new rear u-joint in and was wondering... Today I am going to put the car up on the lift to do some measurments on current yoke(7 1/4)'',the 9 1/4'' yoke and driveshaft. I am wondering if the diameter of where the U-joint goes on the 9 1/4 yoke is larger than the current, Is it possible to just change the size of those u-joint cups that hold the needle bearings? |

Find you a good parts guy, like a Napa guy, who has been around a while, they make U joints with 2 different size caps. the inside of the larger cap is to big to put a smaller cap on and done the other way would fit to loose. Be carful, study in to it, good luck. Mr. Rico |
