Post subject:  Where could I get this for my '60V?

My '60 V has power steering. it needs new seals for the pump (large O-ring seal, etc). I've only found one place that has them and I'd like to do some price shopping before purchasing it for upwards of $70.00 for the kit. Does anyone have suggestions?

thanks.

The same pump was used through '66. It is the "Thompson" pump. '60 Valiants with P/S are very scarce; you may have better luck if you search for a seal kit for a '66 Dart with P/S.

Dan,

Thanks. A question though. Someone told me that the power steering pump for 60 & 61V's were not the same as 62 which was one year only and then it became standard after 63 for both dart and valiant. Looking at the parts list book and exploded view of the pump with all it's seals for both 60 and 63 confirms the seals in the front and rear are different (with the exception of the large O-ring cover seal).

that being the case, will something from a 66 work for my car?

Post subject:  p/s pump

On manual steering cars the diameter of the main shaft is smaller than 62-up cars, I'm assuming the same is for the 60-61 p/s units, with that reasoning your unit might be only good for 60-61 valiants. The mounting points should also be very different than 62& later style "A" bodies, as for a rebuild kit you might have to manufacture something.

SSDan does your parts book show the same part # for the 60 valiant as the 62 -on up?

I cannot remeber the diameter sizes I only know that they are smaller, the 60-61 cars have there own mounting/k-member style-- 62 looks exactly like all early "a" bodies. Good luck
