Post subject:  Suggestions for pump gas build

Right now i have the stock holley single. I bought a super six setup, and will be buying a 2nd engine next month which is where it will go.
:?: Does anyone have a tried and successful mild build recipe. I am using A 225 with 8 1/4 with 2.54 i believe, and a 904. I'd like to keep the gears the way they are for good gas mileage since i plan on taking long trips.
Looking for alot of info. Not for racing, but something better than stock.
Block boring.? .020. .040
Piston Selection? i know they sell overbore.. What brand is the best?
Manifold porting.?
Cam suggestions?
Looking to spend under $1000
Anything will help.
Thanks

It is going to be hard to get real involved with this rebuild and keep it under $1000.00

You may want to call around for a remanufacatured short block assembly, I got one a while back from Kregans for just under $600.00

If you can do a lot of work yourself, the disassembe some engines to see if you can find one that just needs a basic "rings and bearings" overhaul, then put you money into a cam and head work and your set.

The Engine i plan on buying is from a guy by me.. its supposed to have 35k on it. Mine has 189,000, hehe, so i dont think it's a good candidate.
This is my first rebuild, but I plan on doing the work myself.. with the help of a couple of motorhead friends of mine.
so you recommend to have head work done, have a bigger cam installed, and call it a day. If the engine truly has 35k on it, then everything theoretically should be fine.. i guess i'll find out when i pick it up.
:) Thanks DD
