Have you checked this site out? www.transmissioncenter.net They have vacuum and oil pressure switches that will eliminate the need for toggle switches to activate the lock-up and overdrive features of the 518 transmissions. I plan to make contact to find out if these also cover the A-500 transmissions. Found this link in Car Craft's What's Your Problem section of the April 2005 edition.

Looks like a pretty good and simple system, with cheap parts. I have thought of building an electronic circuit to do this, but it's low on the list. What they propose should work fine for everyday usage.
