Clifford Performance is the only place I know of. 200 bucks though means I can't afford one.

There are quite a few cam grinders, who have cams for the slant. You can do a search on this site or the web. A couple that come to mind are Isky, Comp Cams, Racer brown, Lunati, etc

I thought Mother still sold some performance cams for slants. I know they used to anyway.

I have heard some badd stuff about the MP cams,I think Slantzilla lost an engine due to a MP cam taking out his oil pump gear . I have a Comp cams 264s in my HyperPak 170 and so far seems like a good cam.I got it from PAW for $195 with the lifters.

Before getting carried away talking about camshafts, we need more info on the intended use of the car. If the car is stock, there are LOTS of upgrades you need to do before you look at replacing the cam. The camshaft that came stock in a '74 is actually a very decent cam, and you have a lot of room to improve the exhaust, induction, ignition, gearing, etc. before the stock cam gets in your way. Depending on how the car's been maintained and how many miles are on it, it's also fully possible you need to catch up on some neglected maintenance (timing chain stretch and/or sprocket wear, valve adjustments left undone over the years, etc.)

You need to get groceries faster? You're making a dragster? Something in between?

i bought the car about 4 months ago and i have pretty much taken care of all the maintance. I am going to replace the timing chain and gears maybe next week. I am basically building this car for a daily driver and i was looking to put some power to the ground. I have order the electronic conversion kit and plug wires. I have put a new exuast on, Turbo-Flo Mufflers and dual exaust with quad tips coming out the back. The only thing i am not liking about my 1bbl is the sucking noise it makes when you step on the gas, i feel like its being robbed of power, which it is. Advice?
