I found a one bbl to a holley two bbl adapter. Would this even run right? Would the flow even be worth the conversion? |

i did the holley 5200 conversion using an adapter and my existing 1 bbl intake. to me i have no complaints. 40% mpg increase and much better performance and it only took a half hour. best bolt on around as far as i'm concerned. |

I think it would be worth it, but not with a big holley, maybe the 350cfm... If you find a weber, that should be closer to "right" for a stock slant. But that is just my opinion. I have used a weber 38-38 on a 2bbl intake and that worked fine, but I dont know how a bigger carb would react to the step down into the manifold, with an adapter. |

Messing with adaptors is counterproductive. 2bbl intakes are easily available. If the job's worth doing, it's worth doing right. |

But there are a few people out there with the weber/holley 32-36, and they are happy. So it can not be too bad. |

And only if you have a good 2bbl carb to install to replace a worn out 1bbl. I "super sixed" my truck, but it felt like a backstep since my 2bbl carb was more worn out than the 1bbl I was replacing. It's a half step in the right direction but not worthwhile step for every situation. Better to buy a new 2bbl and an adapter than just a 1bbl replacement carb. |

The point is, it's silly to buy nifty new running shoes if, before you put them on, you deliberately drop a bowling ball on one of your feet. You'll still have nifty running shoes, and you might even still be able to run -- maybe even fast enough to satisfy yourself -- but you won't be running as fast as you could if you hadn't dropped the bowling ball on your foot. Likewise, people manage to make the adaptor kludge work. But it's silly and pointless and sabotages the upgrade. 2bbl intakes are easily available and a much better option. |

I don't agree. Money spent on the adaptor could better be spent on the correct manifold for the carburetor. But, each to his own.

Im with Dan on this one. If you want a 2 barrel carb get a manifold to match. There are far more decent 2 barrel manifolds out there than decent 2 barrel carbs. My personal "value" favourite is the diecast aluminum Super6 manifold. Many people are afraid they leak so they seem to be cheap or free. (mine was free). True, adapters aren't the "right way", but I've used them temporarily on V8's with satisfactory results. If you don't have another manifold on hand or you don't want to mess with the stock ones right away (since they're a PITA), I would say go for it. Just check for hood clearance and adjust the linkage if you need to.

Sure, I agree too, but I dont think it is a waste/ a bad thing either. It may not be the best way, but anything better than stock, is an upgrade... I wish I had a 1bbl intake... |

It would be the wide based Holley with 350 cfm's. On a single bbl. intake. |

I guess I would give it a try, but I think that is too much carb for a small hole. You might get issues with it. |
