Hey guys... ss.com refugee here. I asked this question on .com before it went belly up(still sad about that) and I got a couple answers but nothin that really helped me out a lot so Im just re-posting it here. Thanks for the help. About a week ago I was drivin to school and my headlights turned off.. I turned the switch off and back on and they came on.. I didnt really worry about since it has been light in the mornings but on Friday I was driving home from a friends house and they kept turning off and then finally wouldnt turn back on. I tried replacing the high beam switch with one out of my dart but that didnt change anything. So I figure its probably the switch its self but I find it strange that all the other things work on the switch(running lights, dash lights, dome light) So I was wondering if it could be something else? I dont really want to have to tear apart my dash if I dont have too. I have a spare switch that works I think if need be. Any ways thanks for the help in advance. |

If it's not the dimmer switch then it's most likely the headlamp switch or a bad connection. Check to see if all the connections are tight and clean, and all the wires are in good shape. If you have the extra switch it wouldn't hurt to try it out and see if it solves your problem. |

this may seem strange to some but it could be your ground connection. i restored my engine and i grounded something off my headlamp ground and i forgot to tighten it and it took me forever to figure out why they kept going off. i dont know if it helps your situation but its worth a shot. if u dont know where it is it is in front of the battery, or is on my dart. |

The headlight switch has a circuit breaker built into it for the headlamps only. Ever notice your vehicle does not have a fuse for the headlights? Perhaps you have an intermittant short between the headlight switch and the headlamps? This would explain the headlights going off and on . You may also have a broken/rotten wire somewhere. I had a bad wire down near the dimmer switch (maybe from winter road salt that dripped off of shoes?), had to cut it back a ways and splice on new wire. |

Well I was out tinkering around and i plugged in another switch.. and it worked. Im not sure if it was the switch or if I did somethin else with out knowing. I wonder if it was the switch what could have caused it to go bad? I'll have to drive it around tommorow night and see if it acts up. Thanks again for the help. |
