I have an after market dipstick on my 64 225 and there is no dipstick tube. Does anyone know what year 225's I can raid at my local pick part yard for a stock dipstick and tube? Thanks. |

60-66 would use the short tube and dipstick. The later years used longer ones. Any SL6 dipstick/ tube will swap in, I kinda like the longer ones. DD |

For what its worth, the original engine in my '72 Satellite had a short dip stick. I went with the longer when the tip of the short one broke off (always wondered what that ticking sound was) |

I drained my oil pan....fill the filter up, fill the crankcase with oil, let it sit for a few hours....and installed a BB chrome dipstick in mine. You have to file away the shaft a little and then seal it with some ultra copper. I put the dipstick in, marked the spot where the oil was on the dipstick, then hit it with a grinder and left a mark, about 1" down i grinded it again, this is the "add oil" level. Works like a champ. Looks sweet too |
