| Post subject: | Carter Accelerator Pump |
Does anyone know if the accelerator pump plunger for a 1bbl Carter is available separately? I have a friend who has several 'A' bodies and he always has a few that don't get driven a lot and sit long enough that the leather dries out. |

It sho' 'nuff is. Dig through a NAPA Echlin or Standard-Hygrade book, use Carter carb number 3678s or 4956s and you'll find it. But, if all that's happened is the leather has dried out, it can be rejuvenated by soaking it in a little cup of oil (engine oil, 3-in-One, whatever), then flaring the leather cup outward. |

Thanks Dan. I'll see what I can find in the book. The oil trick sounds good unless the leather has shrink up like a hiked-up skirt! Then it is too short to make contact. |
