hi, i just put on a 2.25 on my 225 from manifold to tailpipe tip from accurate ltd.com . tom was great to deal with and it fit perfect . i used his turbo muffler. sounds good, and preforms better. ron |

It really depends what you want to do with it. Is it full race, street/strip, daily driver, super quiet or good on gas that you want. BE HONEST. If you say "full race" and you really just use it for putting around on the street you are going to be pissed off at the muffler we recommend you because you cant stand the noise and you will get pulled over all the time. |

umm i really want it to be daily driver and street strip at the same time.. kinda loud but not really so i can feel the power and musle of the car.. |

well in that case 1969ron probably has the right idea. 2 and a quarter is a good diameter pipe to use, but you arent going to find those pipes at Autozone. Go to a custom muffler shop (once your car is RUNNING) and have them custom mandrel bend an exhaust for you. As for mufflers, I havent gotten into those too deep, some like the 400 series Flowmasters but for what you want to do it's probably just a matter of taste. |

Good answers so far. Muffler: Your best bet for a street driver is a larger version of what came on the car. A muffler for a 318 A-body is PLENTY, and will still keep things acceptably quiet. |

If you go with Flowmasters, DO NOT go with duals, unless you like it loud. My car now sets off car alarms, it's so loud (at least at certain RPMs). I love the sound, but as a practical matter, I have to be very careful when and where I step on it, otherwise any police officer within a mile radius will be looking for me. Luckily, they'll probably be looking for a Toyota Supra with open pipes, since that's what my car sounds like now!!!

I have had my new exhaust for about a month now. I went with 2-1/4" into a 2-1/2" El cheapo $15 Summit Turbo muffler and out a 2-1/2" tailpipe, mind you that this is on a 90" wheelbase A-100 van that exits in front of the rear tire so its short and has a real good sound to it. I can honestly say that it sounds more like a truck than a car. This new system has made a MAJOR addition in my torque curve! If your afraid of being to loud, remember 2 points. The bigger the pipes, the louder it will be. The longer the system and the further away the muffler is from the engine, the quieter it will be. |

That doesn't match my experience or understanding. The closer the muffler is to the engine, the hotter is the exhaust flowing through it, which means the greater its volume. The greater the volume through the muffler, the greater the muffling effect. On the other hand, some engines set up standing waves in the exhaust system such that the exhaust can be much louder or quieter depending on whether any given muffler is placed ↑up here or ↓down there or ←over here or →over there.Putting the muffler closer to the engine will also make it last longer, for it will heat up faster and not collect condensation. |

to much information for a newbi like me.. im kinda understanding but theres to much knowledge coming from u pros.. im going crazy. can someone give me sites so i can look at these mufflers |
