I just got my front Dutra dual and I noticed a clearance problem on the very front part of the front manifold. On the bottom below the first mounting hole there is a tab on my aluminum engine that interfers with it. Is it easier to grind the aluminum hump off the engine or modify the flange on the duals? |

Dutra front castings are a lot more common than aluminum 225s |

I had a similar problem and I just ground off some material from the manifold with my angle grinder. I think it is simpler to grind the manifold because it is smaller and easier to handle than the block. |

I had to grind mine to fit the head also. My Dutra must have been from an off batch because I had to have it surface ground to even up all of the sealing surfaces to where it wouldn't leak. Cutting the excess from the outlet flange at angles made it easier to get a socket extention in to tighten the stud nuts and took off about a 1/4 pound of uneeded iron. It took me three or four tries to get a good seal and no leaks but I've been happy with it and the better engine power ever since. One trick that I did come up with was to cut the manifold gasket in half between the front and rear sections so that I could take off just the Dutra and leave the rear section in place undisturbed. ![]()

Excellent, but looks like I will need to save a LOT of money to buy them, basically for shipping cost to me. |
