| Post subject: | Self Adjusting Valves? |
I'm just curious, did the slant ever come out with self adjusting valves or did advance auto pull a fast one on me? All I've ever seen had the rocker arm with the adjusting screw, that is until I got this engine. It's a 81 engine by the way. |

An '81 engine uses hydraulic lifters....no adjustment for the valves. I believe they started using them in '80 or so. |

There was a small test run of hydraulic-equipped slants in '78, and then no more until the '81 model year, when all slants got hydraulic lifters. |

Yea, all 20,000 of them. Anyone ever find one? According to the service bulletion they were all decked out Volaré/Aspen models with Air Conditioning. |

well the rocker arm assembly on my slant has no adjusting screws, so I guess it has the hydralic lifters you speak of. It's been a good motor so far and it has never smoked. The reason I asked was I was wondering if this would have anything to do with my run on problem. Thanks for the info. ole_blue |
